Seven Planets: An Overview

I always wanted to create a shirt design related to the Seven Planetary deities. I first found out the seven planets looking up the chakra system. That is where I found the correlation between the seven chakras and the seven planets. I found this to be fascinating. That lead me to research it a little further and what I found was quite interesting.

The seven planets play a significant role in our spiritual growth. The seven planets tie into certain metals, zodiac signs, deities, and the seven days of the week. Each planet is aligned with a chakra which is our energy center. It also affects our moods and characteristics. When we look at the planetary positions in our natal chart, we see our true potential in the world. We could use the planets and its movements as a tool to elevate spiritually. Here’s a brief overview of the seven planets.

  • Mars- Mars is dominated by masculine energy. It is mostly made up of mostly Iron. Mars rules the Aries zodiac sign. Mars represents fire. It is very aggressive and action-oriented. It is a planet of desire and passion. It correlates to war. Tuesday is correlated to Mars. It controls the solar plexus chakra (3rd chakra) which is the second chakra. Mars represents survival within humanity. 
  • Mercury-Mercury is a planet of communication, thought and wisdom. Also known as the messenger of the Gods. It rules over the Gemini and Virgo zodiac signs. You could say the Mercury energy is to build and destroy; It takes things apart and put it back together. Wednesday is correlated to Mercury. The alchemical metal associated with the planet Mercury is Quicksilver (which is also called Mercury). It represents consciousness. And finally, it governs the third eye chakra (Ajna chakra).
  • Jupiter-Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system. The alchemical metal that is related to Jupiter is tin. Jupiter is a planet of good fortune. Some of its characteristics are goodwill, optimistic, hope, prosperity, growth, and expansion. It is known as the king of the Gods in the Roman myth. Jupiter rules over the zodiac sign Sagittarius. The main attribute Jupiter is known for is Knowledge. Jupiter controls the Sacral Chakra (2nd chakra) which is associated to change and fluctuation.
  • Saturn-Saturn is associated with the alchemical metal lead. It is a planet of order and structure. Saturn correlates to restriction and limitation. It is a planet that controls time. The deity of Saturn is the Greek God Cronus. Cronus is the father of Demeter, Hades, Hera, Hestia, Poseidon, and Zeus. After hearing a prophecy of him being dethroned by his son Zeus, Cronus swallowed all his children so he could keep his status as king. Saturn shows us our boundaries and fears. It rules the zodiac sign Capricorn and it controls the root chakra.
  • Venus-Venus Is a feminine planet. It is known as the goddess of love. Venus is associated with the alchemical metal copper. It rules over both Libra and Taurus zodiac signs. Venus control loves and money in our lives. It controls our feelings as well as how we approach relationships. It is the only that associated with a female deity.
  • Moon-The moon represents our deepest feelings and desires. It controls our habits and instincts. The moon rules over the Cancer zodiac sign. It also represents feminine energy. The moon is a mediator between the inner and outer world. The alchemical metal associated with the moon is silver. It is opposite of the sun. When the sun acts, the moon reacts. The moon governs the crown chakra.
  • Sun-The sun is the giver of life. It also represents the fire element. The sun governs the heart chakra. The sun is associated with the conscious mind. It is a representation of the human ego. It governs the Leo zodiac sign. The alchemical metal associated with the Sun is Gold.

The seven planets control many aspects of our lives. They all represent characteristics or traits that is within us. We could all tap into these planetary energies through certain meditations.
